Seeking Sponsors & Support to Attend CultureCon NYC!

I’m incredibly excited to share that I’ve been selected to attend CultureCon 2024 in NYC on October 5-6, thanks to Black Girls in Media! This premier event is a powerful gathering of Black creatives, entrepreneurs, and changemakers, and I’m reaching out to my network for urgent support to make this transformative opportunity a reality.

As a first-generation college graduate, financial constraints and the pandemic prevented me from attending key conferences during my studies. Now, I finally have the chance to push my career forward and continue advocating for diversity and representation in media.

Why I’m the Perfect Candidate for CultureCon:

With a strong background in communications, advocacy, and digital media, I’ve focused my career on amplifying underrepresented voices. Here’s how my work has made an impact:

  • Conceptualized and led creative digital campaigns, educational curriculum, and community programs promoting media literacy, voter engagement, and advocacy for initiatives such as voter registration drives and Pittsburgh Black Student Union Network programming at 1Hood.

  • Integrated public health advocacy with media initiatives, conducting research on social determinants of health through my work as a CDC CUPS Scholar and with New Voices for Reproductive Justice, addressing disparities linked to socioeconomic and racial biases.

  • Organizing upcoming youth empowerment workshops with the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust’s steAm Symposium, teaching students digital storytelling and creative advocacy to nurture the next generation of creators.

  • Developing storytelling skills as a Critical Insight Fellow, collaborating with American Theatre Magazine and Pittsburgh Public Theater to elevate arts journalism and cultural discussions.

  • Advocated for state arts funding as part of my work with the Greater Pittsburgh Arts Council, leading social media strategies, creating resources that support local artists, and educating legislators about arts-friendly policies.

  • Led impactful community events like the Black Financial Wellness Summit with The University of Pittsburgh Financial Wellness Center, promoting financial literacy and empowerment through workshops and expert panels.

  • Amplifying Voices Through Art: Elevating underrepresented voices through storytelling, short films, writing, and fashion. This includes showcasing my work for "Envisioning A Just Pittsburgh" at the Carnegie Museum, collaborating with the Black Transformative Arts Network, performing poetry for the PA Educator Diversity Consortium, modeling for FashionAfricana at the Juneteenth Fusion Fest, and founding my media network, Providing Opportunity for Wonder/Art (POWA).

Attending CultureCon will allow me to expand my network, gain insights from industry leaders, and bring back fresh ideas that will fuel growth and creativity within my community. I’m deeply committed to advancing creativity and media representation, and I need your help to get there.

How You Can Support:

I want to raise $2,000 to cover travel, accommodation, and media documentation expenses. I’ve set up a donation page, and every contribution—no matter the size—makes a difference.

For businesses and organizations, sponsoring my journey offers exciting benefits:

  • Increased Brand Visibility:

    • Social Media Mentions: Regular posts showcasing your logo and messaging during CultureCon.

    • Content Creation: Blog posts, videos, or podcasts highlighting your support and products.

    • Workshops or Panels: Opportunity to conduct a workshop aligned with your mission, showcasing your involvement.

  • Exclusive Access to Insights: Gain firsthand learnings from industry leaders at CultureCon, with key takeaways shared to enhance your diversity initiatives.

  • Association with a Mission: Align your brand with a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in media, resonating with audiences who value social justice.

Your support will not only help me attend CultureCon, but it will also amplify the voices of marginalized communities through the work I continue to do. Together, we can make a lasting impact!

Thank you for your generosity and encouragement—I can’t wait to share this journey with you!
