"TUH FR33 DOM – The Magikal Power of Youth" is a powerful celebration of the brilliance and resilience of Black youth, both past and present. This mixed media piece, created using recycled materials, kankelon hair, and student supplies, highlights the undeniable role of young minds in shaping the ongoing fight for freedom and equality. Through education, creativity, and activism, young Black scholars have always been at the forefront of progress—and continue to lead the way today.

Inspired by The Magic School Bus, I imagine education as a liberating journey—where knowledge and action are the driving forces toward freedom. In this piece, I take on the role of "Miss Frizz," guiding a metaphorical bus filled with conscious, empowered youth. These young minds possess the talent, intellect, and passion to transform society. This journey to freedom is powered by the very traits that are often feared and underestimated—Black intellect, creativity, and resistance.

Icons like Claudette Colvin, Ruby Bridges, John Lewis, and Charles Person serve as guiding stars, representing the youth of the past who used their voices and intellect to challenge injustice. Their revolutionary efforts continue to inspire today's generation of young Black leaders. The back of the piece envisions modern-day youth as the next trailblazers, poised to use their talents to push forward toward justice, equality, and liberation.

Drawing on the role that busing played in civil rights advocacy, this work parallels the past and present, asking viewers to imagine today’s youth on their own journey toward free domination through knowledge and action. It calls attention to the ongoing fight for educational equity and the empowerment of Black youth, encouraging reflection on critical race theory and the importance of education as a liberating force.

This piece is a tribute to the power of young Black minds—their intellect, creativity, and courage. It reminds us that the journey toward liberation has always been driven by the fearless spirit of youth unafraid to speak truth and spark change.
